Docere STEAM, formerly Docere4Parents, is the sister company and a registered 501 (c) (3) nonprofit arm to The STEM Lab. Docere (Latin) to teach. This is truly how our quest to design the most interactive, fun, and relevant STEM programming started. To volunteer or donate email us at Docere4parents@gmail.com.
For Black girls ages 12 - 16, these conferences will inspire and empower girls to take an interest STEM. We bring industry experts in to conduct workshops and hands-on activities during the conference.
This is an annual program.
Students re-assemble bikes they get to keep! Docere STEAM’s Bicycle Engineering Club, is hosted at Rockdale Academy. This club builds student confidence and problem-solving skills while reinforcing and bringing relevance to math and science/physics principles taught during the school day. Added real-world engineering challenges have been added to this special program to drive home the importance of engineering. Through the involvement of community mentors and coaches, the club also exposes students to STEM career possibilities.
This program is sponsored by The Greater Cincinnati STEM Collaborative
These clubs are exclusively for the powerful girls! Each area discovered is explained through careers to help inspire them to pursue a STEM discipline using real-world projects.
We partner with local community organizations like the YMCA and schools to deliver STEM/STEAM programs for low-income students.
Our mission is to (1) to create academically knowledgeable parents that can advocate for their children’s educational welfare; (2) enhance children’s interest especially minorities and girls, in STEA2M learning and careers; and (3) Create interactive hands-on opportunities for students to explore STEM through real-world situations.
We began putting on county-wide science fairs in 2017 in an effort to allow children the opportunity to "show-off" science experiments. Titled
"Inaugural Southwest Ohio Science Fair Invitational" we partnered with UC and
advanced three qualifiers to UC District Science Fair!
Through Docere STEAM, we are able to deliver much-needed STEM programming to underserved schools and community groups. For two years we have received a STEM Bicycle grant from The Greater Cincinnati STEM Collaborative! This grant has been instrumental in exposing students to mechanical engineering. We partnered with Kemper Road Community Church and the Winton Woods Middle School our first year and Rockdale Academy in Avondale this past year.
